Kairos Volunteers,
Before another year comes to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on your accomplishments and to say thank you.
As you know, California State Prison, Sacramento is multi-mission Level IV maximum security institution. By definition it is a challenging place to work and/or live. A review of 2011 would show that there were over 3800 inmate disciplinary actions; over 900 documented incidents (2.6 per day) including multiple riots; many requiring the use of force. Among these statistics were numerous lockdowns, that frustrated your efforts, including one in B-Facility that stretched to 364 days.
In this environment, you persevered to provide almost 5000 hours of programming to the inmates at SAC.
Thank you for every thing that you do. It has been a pleasure working with each one of you and I look forward to working with all of you, again, in 2012.
Merry Christmas to all and may you and your families have a blessed and prosperous New Year.
